Solar Arc Progressions

Solar arc progressions

The Solar Arc Direction is a predictive method based on the sun's diurnal movement. All the planets and axes are moved by the same amount as the sun moves in one day, which symbolises the passing of one year in the life on an individual.

Is solar arc accurate?

Solar arcs are reliable, and no astrologer doing “current development” work is playing with a full deck without them. The theory behind Solar Arcs is simple: take the number of degrees the Sun has progressed on a given date and add that same “arc” to the rest of the planets.

What do progressions mean in astrology?

Progressions slow down planetary movement, taking what happens in real time on one day and extending it over the course of one year. This means the slower moving planets, like Jupiter and Saturn, will not move much at all. Without movement there is no new information to be had.

What are tertiary progressions?

Tertiary Progressions: These are a variation on Secondary Progressions. Instead of one day in the ephemeris being equal to one year of life, Tertiary's measure one day in the ephemeris being equal to one lunar month (29.531 days).

What is the difference between progressions and solar arc?

There are two main forms of progression: Secondary progression or 'a-day-for-a-year' progression ; and Solar arc direction or 'a-degree-for-a-year' progression. In both systems, the planets, Ascendant, and Midheaven are all seen to have changed position in the progressed chart, and these changes are noted.

What is the difference between transit and progression?

Like transits, which compare the planets in the sky at any given time to the planets in your birth chart, progressions are cycles that can be tracked from birth until death, but one key difference is how they are calculated. Transits are general, while progressions are personal.

What does solar lunar arc mean?

If the time of birth is known and exact, the natal chart shows the angle between the Sun and the Moon at the moment of birth. This is known as a solar-lunar arc and it happens each lunar cycle.

How fast does a progressed Moon move?

Overview. The Moon is the fastest moving “planet”, so it follows that the Progressed Moon is the fastest moving progressed planet. Because the Progressed Moon moves at an approximate rate of 12 degrees per year, it passes through a zodiac sign for approximately 2-1/2 years.

What are lifetime arcs astrology?

The Life Time Arcs show a list of dates from Conception to Old Age in a logarithmic time scale, showing a sequence of planetary sensitive points (aspect angles from each planet's natal position) that show a succession of planetary patterns that describe the life in time.

How long does a progressed Sun stay in a house?

If you were born on or near the equator, then the Sun would tend to take 30 years to progress through each of your houses. Count the degrees in the house where the Sun is progressing in your chart and you will know how many years it has been there and how many years it will remain in that placement.

How fast does the Ascendant progress?

Here you can see that the progressed Ascendant varies from 18 to 21 degrees Taurus. It's not a wide range, but since this factor moves so slowly from year to year, the change of sign and its aspects to planets can vary not only by months but often by years.

How often does the progressed Ascendant change?

The Sun moves about 1 degree per year of your life so it could take up to 30 years to change signs in your progressed chart depending on the degree at birth. It will likely only touch 2-3 houses and signs during your lifetime (at the most 4).

How does a progressed chart work?

A progressed chart adds one day to your date of birth for every year you've been alive to create a new chart that reflects your maturation and growth. We all change with age, and this is shown through the progressed chart.

What is a progressed Moon?

Your progressed moon is about your evolved emotional needs. The progressed moon does not replace the needs of your natal moon but it brings a shorter term additional layer to your emotional needs that is present in your life for around 2-3 years.

How often do degrees change in astrology?

For example, it's believed that the sun moves one degree forward on the Wheel of the Zodiac for every year after your birthday. And every sign occupies 30 degrees of the Wheel, so, by the time you hit your 30s, if not earlier, the sun could very well have moved onto the next sign on your progressed chart.

Is progressed chart accurate?

"A progressed chart is a good way to map out the different stages of life that a person may go through, while predicting significant events along the way," Woods says, alluding to these sorts of smaller shifts that a progressed chart might indicate.

What are progressions?

A progression is a series that advances in a logical and predictable pattern. In mathematics, for example, the series 2, 4, 6, 8 is an arithmetic progression. If asked to give the next number, most people would reply 10. A movement forward, especially one that advances toward some achievement, is called a progression.

How do you read a solar return chart?

In a Solar Return chart, your Sun sign will not change but you'll probably have a different moon and rising signs. These new signs do not replace the moon and rising signs in your birth chart. Rather, these are the signs that you'll express for the next year – similar to a progressed planet.

What is a progressed lunar return?

The progressed moon takes about twenty-eight years to make it all the way around the natal chart and return to its original location, while transiting Saturn takes about twenty-nine and a half years to return. They pace each other throughout our entire lives and especially closely during the first thirty years of life.

Is solar return a transit?

Here it is in short: The Solar Return is a yearly transit where the degree of the sun in the sky lines up with the degree of our natal sun. Our birthdays may or may not correlate with this day as the Gregorian calendar is not based on degrees of the zodiac.
